Why Did I Buy Abelton Live?
Please feel free to put me right. In fact I'd love any input as to somthing I can actually use it for but I fuckin hate it. Honest I dont think its anything more than a rediculously overhyped version of rave e-jay.
See I bought it thinking it'd be great for cutting breaks, but it just play fuckin loops. Grrreat!? I mean I've already got Logic Pro 7, Reason, Reaktor 5 and Phatmatik. What good is having Live?
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreicated, but otherwise if anyones after a brand new boxed legit copy, stickers and everything, let me know.

i think it's fucking amazing, is the only sequencer that i've been able to really connect with and make any progress in terms of getting ideas out of my head and onto the screen. me and luke vex are also in the process of switching from decks + CDJs to two laptops synced running ableton, is gonna be ace - live re-editing of tunes, in key mixing, crazy vst fx, samples, acapellas, adding in a virtual 303, integrating our own productions etc etc. sounds a bit chin strokey but it's gonna redefine DJing IMO

im toying with running decks into ableton to utilise vst fx/live record loop, re edit as well as the normal all in the laptop stuff. probably wont work but i like working out side the box, and ableton is the only program i can think of with the routing capabilities to do wierd sizzle

ableton is absolutely brilliant at some things:
things they got right are the midi assignment, and the scene view. It's great for DJing and as a scratch pad for ideas. It does my head in for a lot of the time too.
oh plus the thing is setup in the worst possible way for using alongside vinyl out of the box. they should have scenarios that mean it is setup for what you want it for.
