apparently completely in-edible until you do whatever it is they do to em (put em in salt water?) because it'll make you sick, point being you can't eat em off the tree.
have always wondered how in circumstances like this that people ever found out you can eat em?
I have only recently started eating em, but only now and then so I'm with Kickflip on this one.

I am an olive fanatic!
Large black olives, garlic stuffed green olives, and greek kalamata olives are always in my fridge for snacking.
They are super good for you and did you know that the difference between green and black olives is only their ripeness. Blacker means fully ripened on the vine.
I would like to be an olive connoisseur![]()
there are many varieties like grapes/wine.

I am a recent olive convert - had my baptism about 2 years ago.
Get yourself down turnpike lane in North East London and you get zillions of varieties, including the unbelievebly humungus "Collosal Olive". GThey sell the fresh horrid bitter ones too!

they shoud be fucking banned. The wife loves them. Sticks in an open pot n the fridge and within hours everything in the fridge smells/tastes of them.
Whenever i go round to the brother's he has a stinky pot saturated in olive oil on the table. Smells so rank I have to light a bifta to get the taste out of my mouth!~
The girlfriend loves them though (She would, being Italian).
What People don't realise is that Sainsbury's etc. all store them in the same oil (same seasoning, etc) which ruins the taste and smells of old socks.

Love em.
Thing is, there's so many different types and a lot of the commercially available ones are GASH.
Like Clur said, the only nice one she's had was in a posh deli. There's a good reason for that.
Black Kalamatas go suprisingly well in a risotto with king prawns, saffron, garlic, chilli and baby spinach.
So who like anchovies? I can eat em straight from the jar!
