'Happy Birthday' isn't public domain though is it?hubie wrote:let's just make it public domain, like happy birthday and auld lang syne
Or maybe it is.
I just read this and I'm more confused than when I started:
http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm? ... id=1111624
the song generates an estimated $2 million per year, and yet no one has ever sought adjudication of the validity of its copyright

I give that effort five rolls out of five, well doneAli Mobius wrote:hubie wrote:let's just make it public domain

@Mr Button: tbh I doubt Auld Lang Syne is public domain either, but you get my point (oh and people will try to make money out of a tune no matter how tenuous their link to it is, hence the reluctance for some peeps to re-release this remix, haha)

I'll have a quick chat with my publisher see if he has any thoughts about getting it re-released.
As for the synth sound, well it was a really cheesy EXS sample pack with that Roland Supersaw synth sound from the JD-8000 or something, not even the real synth. Nothing like keeping it real!

Re: Zero - Emit / Collect (Rennie Pilgrem Agatha Stomp)
I'm back, don't call it a comeback. 10 YEAR BUMP BUMP BUMPIDDITY.
I've reached a point in my life where I am cataloguing my records and trying to buy digital copies of them to avoid recording the stupid things. I thought by 2021 everyone would be monetising all these amazing memories for nostalgia purposes, but I'm finding it pretty hard to buy nice clean perfect tempo digi copies of a lot of stuff - though a couple of things have popped up on Bandcamp. No sign of any Streetwise records - thank JESUS for the Pilgremage CD tip which I've just ordered so I can get this banger in CD quality format. Can't even buy a digital copy of Billie Jean (Bushwacka! Remix) - what's the world coming to eh?
I'd seriously bankroll getting these things available somewhere. Part of me likes the "exclusive" nature of vinyl only, but really it's a shit format and most of my favourites have obviously been played a lot and aren't in great condition!
