Had this noise in mind i want in my songs, sounds kinda like a rip. Need it so badly but have no idea where to start!! Only example i can really think of is: Acquaviva and Madox - Running From. Hope people can sorta imagine what i mean but a clip is below. Thanks in advance

HP filter on a saw wave oscillator with lots of resonance.
or just a saw wave with a lowpass filter and a bit of resonance, underlayed with a bandpassed saw around the mid-high frequencies

nah, bandpass of a resampled hp filter - 67% resonance - whack it through glitch and then turn it off and then resample it and bobs your uncle.

i can hear a combination of a bad pass filter + hp filter and a pitch envolope of some sort in there. probably the glide from portamento resampled then chopped then filtered.

Dont forget distortion usually does justice to the Ripping audio concept.....Amplitube at 50% what I sonically recommend...

Saw + Notch Filter + Glissando/Glide/Portamento - possibly doubled up with a sine an octave lower.

sample an actual fart, time stretch it, distort it, eq it, make a melody with it, put a high pass lfo on it, a lil delay...let it sit in your mind for a while, come back to it....

Really appreciate the response guys... but it makes me feel like even more of a noob. Any chance i can get a step by step guide for making the ripp from a noise i've chosen in Live - in sampler or the instrument rack for example. Know what you're implying just not sure how to turn theory into practice - massive massive love for anyone who can help me out. Thanks guys - really looking forward to the point in a few years time where i can dish out this advise rather than beg for it

it's just a sawbass with portamento(sometimes called glide - which basically means that the note takes time to switch to the next note and bends up to it) - we used an almost identical patch in all over your diq
but this one has either been rendered and cut up, or the portamento has been automated to only have effect on the last note when it rises

Walkthrough:
select sawbass
pastes the one shot notes in, then the last note an octave higher
set portamento(or glide) on the synth to about 33% and make the note before the higher one longer so it overlaps underneath it - then you get the rising raspy sound. adjust the note lengths and the portamento time/amount to taste
*edit* aaargh - fucking soundcloud links not working properly

the only hing i would add is the portomento or glide is curved in this instance. i dont know if you can do this on a vsti, you can on any hardware i have. you would have to drawer in a curved pitch shift

i just did it on the imposcar no problem - it depends where the trigger note is set and how long it is(the note before the rise)
i have uploaded a direct copy of that bassline and pretty much nailed it if i can get the cunting soundcloud player to work i'll post it later

hmm, must work different on a vsti. you can clearly hear the note rise getting quicker.
