Golden axe was class... used to love playing with the dwarf dude coz he could really swing that axe super fast... hehehe ... now I feel old.

nice response on the global warming thing ... bet funkbudha wasn't expecting that!

My question:
When you start a tune do you know where you are going with it and stick to a certain direction, or is it a case of firing up synths and samplers and experiementing until you get parts that work?

Ultra big-big-big-up for putting all the free samples on your site as well! Such a good idea.
glad u dig the samples, planning on doing a big download only sample pack of quality gear soon..75-100 wavs not free tho but v.good..also more free bits too :-)

re: tunes ..kinda answered this in a previous q .. but i never really now exactly where i'm going..i tend to go with the flow.>.>.>.>.>..

not really..did the usual at school (B in GCSE music ..nice) but tech wise , self taught...

skkatter wrote:The bass on your productions seems to stand out more than most other breaks producers (indeed any other genre) around (bar Tipper, I think you might tie with him).

Basically, how do you make those basses so fat and loud while still being able to fit in kicks and other things in there? I find when I put a big wobbly bassline in anywhere it takes over the mix and drowns everything else out.
A certain Mr. Vogel on ta certain other message board maintains that you need some old school analogue synths going into a fancy pants mixing desk, but like you said your own setup is pretty much all digital.

Basically I'm looking for a brief bass masterclass. :)
and believe u me herr vogel has a seriously fancy pants mixing desk ;-)

its hard to say really .. but i think its ceratinly about seperating freqencies and using compression...if i have alot of constant near-sub bass i do my best to make the kik as solid in the lower mids as poss and shelve off anything below 60/80 hz to make sure it doesnt interfere with the b-line...so nice booming 808 kiks are out for me if i want a heavy b-line

i also make sure that the sub is there at all times ..sometimes i stick the whole mix thru a lopass filter so can just hear whats going on under 100 hz or so and make sure everythings there and not too messy...just takes alot of tweaking and piddling around basically..

thank god for that, i thought i was going mad. used to hang around with antnee, ed, nino n that lot. :D sorry for getting all personal, just proving i'm not a stalker!

still major props for all the bath place cabbagehead stuff, probably what swayed me into making weird music without guitars!
