Are you rebranding to your real name? I hear that's how it works.

In fact, that's the precise dictionary definition
rebranding (ˌriːˈbrændɪŋ)
noun
the process of reverting a product or an organization back to it's original name, in order to appear relevant
If it worked for Alex Virr it can workfor Psy Shackles.

he is rebranding. changing his name. whether you like the terminology or not I couldn't give a fuck - thats what it is.

the public are not about brands, brands are about brands. you dont like them, I dont care. there's nothing wrong with being a brand. Any product, of which music is one, requires its own brand. his new brand is Simon Shackleton. Its not cynical, its just life. Its business. End of story.
massively missing the point, getting narky and turning a philosphical post into some kind of jibe. you're on brand right there alex. lol.

none of the greats were / are brands

isnt "branding" as a marketing concept way out of date now anyway?

Music is not a brand. Brands are for das kapitalists with fingers in many pies. Music is one pie. Psymon is still fingering jus the one - a mono-digitiser. To brand him a brand is Virrging on ridiculous.

I think it is crazy to think after 18 years of creating a particular type of sound and music you couldn't want to naturally move on to something else *shrugs*
https://soundcloud.com/leftwingrecordin ... eftwing011 I have somehow done a track that has been released. I know, I don't know how either.

Of course they were. The Rolling Stones. Huge brand. The Beatles. The same.

Branding is the cornerstone of how and why we buy stuff. How the fuck else are you gonna do it?

I mean if you want to go down the philosophical route of how awful consumerism is - fine but its got nothing to do with the conversation we're having.

Back on the nosegay?

Also, how in one post you claim the public aren't about brands, then say branding is consumerism is quite astounding.

not on anything I just think you're being a bit stupid.

this so-called 'public' is actually just people and the evil branding machine is also just people who run businesses who want entities for them. Nothing sinister so far.

to say the public are all about brands is like saying DJs are all about the cocaine and not the music, which although may have a ring of truth to it, does a bit of a disservice to the job that branding does for people who have stuff they want to sell in the same way that saying DJs are all about the cocaine and not the music is a gross simplification of what actually happens.

DJs get into being DJs mainly because they like music but occasionally they are narcissistic idiots who care less about the music than they do the accolade and the fanmail. This isn't true of all DJs, just a few and they dont get very far. I'm lucky enough to still be DJing to people pretty regularly after 15 years of doing it. Its safe to say this has little to do with cocaine and a lot to do with my passion for music. Likewise with good brands.

Consumerism and branding go hand in hand but if people dont want to buy something they wont, so you can have a brilliant idea for a brand and a crappy product and while you might sell a few things people will quickly realise your product isn't that good and stop buying it. Therefore brand doesn't trump a good product its just instrumental in selling it.

To be cynical about branding is really just to say you've bought a lot of shit things with clever branding which, while this can happen, isn't the brands fault - its the shitty product.

If Elite Force is rebranding that doesn't mean he thinks Elite Force is a shitty product or that anyone else does, it simply means he wants to create a new one with a different name. Nothing sinister about that either.

I thought that was the case? :chin:

He'd been living a lie, broducing not what he loved, but what paid the bills. Now the bills have been paid he's free to brodown with the double-barrelled chin strokers. Also, his daughter is probably asking a lot of questions "wtf is Elite Force dad? Why would you name yourself after a Ross Kemp tv show? Was it a moment of madness after seeing how big Tom Yorkie got after ditching you? Where's mum?"

No idea where your level of petty playground-level hate stems from Tam. I guess you'll have to console yourself with the knowledge that you will more likely be remembered for being a troll, than a musician (if you are remembered at all).
