I've never bought anything from iTunes and it seems they want me to sign up for some subscription service just to be able to listen to the clips which is a pity, as I really like the sound of Darkness Into Light.

Will they be available anywhere else?

I concur. I've never purchased anything from iTunes nor will I. The proprietary nature of their setup turned me off from day 1. Deleting and adding tunes to an iTunes device is akin to eating a bowl of vomit, I'd rather not partake in it.
