The man is a thief, he has robbed so many artists. A great asset to the scene :(

i know several who have had issues with him.. but tbh unless your release did really well (top 20 or so), you've probably not lost out on much money. especially considering the amount of remixes he was doing per release. is 5 remixes of a track really needed? i've never understood the logic behind that many remixes especially when the trend seems to be that only one of the remixes usually does well (remix rant). his label is distributed by symphonic. maybe contact viro about it.

I'm not sure what artist put that up (yet) but it sure made me laugh (even though this is no laughing matter)

Ok, so i have been thinking of making this fiasco public for a while and wasn't going to bother but seeing as the thread is up i'll just put a few things straight. I was approached by Drew to have a release on this label and seeing the artists and remixers he has had on the label and the significant % of royalties he was offering me i thought why not. It wasn't long before i started getting emails from artists and even people who know him personaly telling me about the sort of character this guy is. Fellow remixers and artists were complaining of not seeing any royalties from numerous tracks signed to the label.

It was eventualy revealed that Symphonic had been paying the money to Drew and he had not been forwarding on what was owed to the said artists. I know of at least 5 artists in the same situation but i expect there are many others. Symphonic are fully aware of the situation and even stepped in to help the artists get what was owed to them (which they are not obliged to do) but even they have washed there hands of him now. I have received my statatements from Symphonic and Drew owes me a sum of money that he promised would be payed in a long drawn out email apologising for the way he has handled the label financialy.

He has since failed to respond to any emails from artists and also changed his facebook account to a girls name, even his girlfriend closed her account! Adding up all the artists royalties he hasn't paid (i'm not sure if he has EVER paid anyone) must come to a significant amount, he has stolen from the hardwork all the artists have given him to build his label.

There is no doubt in my mind that he and the label should be named and shamed.

well as this has been brought up I will add something as well:

I was approached to do a remix for them and, as with everyone else, I liked their productions and the list of artists on the label and also it was a chance for me to do something a bit more banging :D

Anyway so I did this remix and was told they liked it so I was looking forward to the release as per usual...

A day before the release date (which I didn't know) I sent an email asking when it was coming out and he replied saying he wasn't going to release the remix. Now I wasn't too bothered about it being rejected (it's only happened a few times!) as I hardly use parts from packs anyway and I could easily use them for other remixes or originals however what I hated was the fact that if I hadn't emailed - would they have even told me I wasn't on the release? Or would I have just seen it minus my remix in all the shops? I think it's obvious what the answer is...

not cool.

I only deal with people that I know and who have been cool to me over the years (being on promo lists, getting VIPs, getting tips on tunes, etc). I'd never release something on a label that I didn't trust or had some issue with me in the past.

Might be a good approach for more artists to take.

I should add that I have a remix as Menace To Sobriety forthcoming on En:Vision Records!

Well, the man is BACK. I have given him the opportunity to reply on this thread so we will se if he does. IMO, the only way he can redeem himself is to get every artist what is owed to them.

bill & adrian (i'll use you 2 as an an example) - is it a substantial amount of money that you are not being paid, or is it say 50 american, which translates to like 30 quid? is it such an amount that shaming him in public is really worth it? i realize it's the principle of the matter and all, but how much are we talking here?

that said - tbh, i've heard from someone who's tune went to #1 that they never saw anything, and were given a shit reason as to why.

just general curiosity here.
