Christmas - Merry or Mad?

Post by liz melody » Fri Nov 25, 2005 4:25 pm

I am a sucker for christmas tradition and all the commercial trimmings(not the religious stuff or the media hype/pressure though)
I think it's magical if you can separate yourself from the bullshit :D

yeah i really like it, especially since my family don't really do presents that much. so the emphasis is simply on chilling out with family and friends etc.

I thought it was crap 5 years ago, but now, I have a 4 years old daughter, and I find it magical again :D

here we also have "Saint Nicolas" on 6th December who is the ancester of your Santa Klaus...

Saint Nicolas is the Boss of the Lorraine where I live :
http://www.saintnicolasdeport.com/basilic_perso-en.htm

There's a legend saying that Saint Nicolas was transformed in Santa Klaus in the 30's by Coca-Cola, and that's why he is red and white :?

http://www.funsocialstudies.learninghav ... itions.htm

to sum it, Coca-Cola stole our local tradition...

Nevertheless Santa Klaus must be gay to enter so many chimneys

Christmas sucks monkey balls. I am going to sit on a chair facing a wall and drink vodka until I pass out.

I think it's great. I've got no problems ignoring the commercial aspect of it.

My family are great as well, which really changes things, IMO.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I agree that it can be magical (helps a lot if there's kids around), but I do feel constantly pressurised by the whole commercial aspect of it, from the start of november.

I have a large family, and lots of friends which means lots of cards and presents, which I find a bit daunting. Before I had a full time job, I used to put loads of effort into making cards and presents for everyone, as well as buying gifts for those people that wouldn't appreciate the crap I used to make
But I don't have time for that now :(

Usually Tara and I get each other a few little gifts and get pissed while I get busy in the kitchen.

But this year we might spend it with my Sister and her family, which would be a nice change I think.
Enough of this bullshit!
