Unfortunately nowadays huge corporations like this are the only ones who have the resources and the vast amounts of money to pull off the major shows and projects. It just costs too much for all the equipment and workers especially in this country.
I was talking to one of the lighting designers for the world tour of Miss Saigon yesterday and he told me that the show cost £245,000 per week to keep running (It's been touring for three years now). Companies like CC do have a stranglehold on most of the venues in the UK but as it stands they are the only ones organising and running shows of a really professional standard at the moment. no privately run buisness comes close... :?

The problem is not that they are huge, the problem is that they control everything : the artists ; the broadcasting ; the outdoor advertising; the festivals; the venues ...and that they are linked to the Electoral Campaign of Georges Bush ...
I've heard that they asked their artists not to express their hostility to GW Bush, and they fired those who opened their mouth ( for exemple Bruce Springsteen...)
This is an octopussy, who wants to control everything in entertainment ...

I also undirectly work for them because I sometimes work for big concerts as light technician...

Yep they are bastards.....they squeeze any competition dead before they become a threat. but it's not just exclusive to CC other companies like Mean fiddler, Emap and Unilever are the same but they are in much earlier stages.

I bet they do contribute to Bush's campaign the Lobbyists will have been busy figuring out how to sway the politicians to vote on legislation in a way that favors the interest they represent. (i.e. Clearchannel)
It surprised me when i found out but bit by bit Clearchannel have been quietly buying venues all over the UK for years..... they own pretty much most of the major venues in every city now.......

What can you do though?

I also undirectly work for them because I sometimes work for big concerts as light technician...
Good job! did you say 'work' and 'light tech' in the same sentence? ;)

Clear Channel are also the biggest 'charitable' donator to the Tidy Britain Group. The Tidy Britain Group recently succesfully lobbied the government to clamp down on flyposting. Guess who happens to be the biggest owner of legal billboard/bus stop advertising sights in the uk?

I just searched BBC news for Clear Channel. Found a story saying that Mean Fidler had accepted a £37m buyout in April 2005. So now ClearChannel own a large stake of the Glastonbury and Reading Festivals!

Oh dear. This surely goes against the hippy principles Glasto was founded on and still maintains!

That would be nice to burn them, but it would burn the whole planet.
I suggest we transmit the info to all our friends and networks, because we have to know our enemy to fight it.
At this time only 31% of people knew this firm , and we are in a breakbeat forum with a lot of people involved in the musical scene.
I suppose that a lot of people disgree their methods, and the only one way to protect us is to boycott the artists who are selling their soul to the devil.

There is a roster with their artists on http://www.cc.com

For me the most shocking artist on CC is GBH ... how a so old punk band can do that ? Weren't they here in 77... Green Day and Offspring are more acceptable but I don't want them sing like if they were rebels anymore... they are in the system.
Nearer from us, there are Royskopp, LCD Sound System, Sugar Hill Gang, The Roots, and Meat Beat Manifesto ...etc ...

And a lot of metal bands like Rob Zombie, Slipknot, System of a down, and .... Sounds of the underground  .
Their mothers suck dicks in hell! They treat you as commercial because we like the funky dancy stuff and they sign a contract with that fucking dogpiles!
