PHPBB version needs upgrading.

Just a headsup really. Last think you want is some 12 yr old hacker fcuking over the forum.

I did raise this one in more detail via PM about 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, I'm off to move home now - wish me luck.

Just a heads up guys - noticed for a while now that the forum's showing as phpbb v.2.0.11

- dangerously out of date and in desperate need of patching to phpbb 2.0.18.

I'm sure like everyone else, to see the forum get attacked by these sickos that got a boner over injecting sql into your db to take and assume admin rights would be awful..

and as phpBB is free, its full of bugs, upgrading is a shitter and i find the server load is unbearable....

phpbb aint a bitch to upgrade - unless you mod it..
if you modify a vb file, you've got to be careful upgrading over the top of it.

re: the bugs thing.

same must apply to linux., apache, mysql etc then too, they're free... so does 'free' mean = full of bugs.

Windows isn't free... but that doesnt stop it being full of bugs

The fact that phpbb is open source means people can FIND and FIX the bugs easier... which makes for a more secure product...

security by obscurity is not a good thing

and at the end of the day Jimmy, the decision is yours... but just assuming because the bugs are hidden doesnt mean they're not there

just some comments and thoughts..
