The main issue is that people should
a) be educated as to how to spot issues in themselves or others
b) be able to get proper help if it gets too much

Once you get that far you can't tell there is an issue.

I've never met anyone who smokes cannabis daily who it hasn't had a negative effect on in some way. I think lander is right in that once habits have formed, positive relationships may have ended etc people end up stuck. It's socially acceptable in lots of circles and people lack the motivation or self awareness to stop. Or when they do they feel agitated, can't sleep and so forth so get back to it. It's more addictive than given credit for. That's my own observations of it anyway.

I completely alienated myself from my friends and totally lost myself and it took a long time to fix.
A long long long time. There was other issues but they were only compounded by my own stupid actions as a 19 year old who didn't have a clue.

My own experiences indicate that even the people closest to you have difficulty handling mental health issues regardless of cause.

It's comforting to imagine that we are all in control of our actions and emotions at all times, but this should be seen as the exception rather than the rule.

Yes, you can control your responses to events and thoughts, although this takes training and practice.

We should all look out for each other just a little bit more.

fuck it. it's WAY better to get it out the way when you're young, and not be one of those middle aged folk who turn into teenagers and, therefore, twats. usually found yoghurt weaving in the healing areas of festivals with glasto spring water and a nice little nest egg from the shares in the marketing department of BAE weapons systems.

better to stay an eternal teenager imho.

anyway, as far down the rabbit hole you went, i'm not sure you were sat in a crack squat with a scouser telling you he's got aids and will 'spit in yer works' unless you share some of your ten bag with him. (not my story, just there for balance).

anyway, we could have preferred binge drinking and sex on the bins, early parenthood and jeremy kyle as a life goal. we could have scaled the dizzy heights of commerce and be jizzing our acidic coke spazz from the corner office windows of mammon. we could have been a contender.

if i hadn't been run over my life would have been very different. i'd definitely be more of a twat. was/is it shit? yes. has it taught me anything? yes. lots.

every life has turns and twists and if you think you have any real control over anything bar how we react to it, then you'll go mad or deluded.

Haha exactly sir clodders - I think we're peas in a pod! I don't regret any of my excessive usages up until now - its all good - just depends what you want out of life...

I'd love to smoke again but I get drug tested at work so for some reason it's ok to abuse booze but not have a smoke to send me to sleep - our world is crazy..
