When I played 2 it was a distraction from my uni work - and I found some of the digressions rather irritating. Now I have more spare time I'm the same as you, love all the side quests. They really help immerse you in it all.

Re: What computer games are you playing?
I'm more of an RTS fan than anything. (And hardcore simulators). But I got very heavily into Battlefield 3 on the PC recently. Got a small crew of Norwegian lads I play with. It's great.
Sadly, the writers seem to have completely borked it with this pay to play "Premium" nonsense which gives people extreme queue-jumping "privileges" if they pay an extra £50 or some bollocks. The net result is that everybody else who doesn't pay extra up front (for a game which is still partially broken in many ways) finds it virtually impossible to join any multiplayer sessions now.
Cheers for that. FFS.
I've got the new Sins of a Solar Empire beta, and will be very interested to see what the sequel to Company of Heroes is like. That was basically the best RTS of all time, pretty much.
Been thinking about trying to get back into Dangerous Waters again, but I'll probably have to re-read the 700 page manual.

Not played FM2012 for a few days now. I think I have overcome this battle. I will uninstall it I think.
Could do with another game for windows. I prefer playing on my PC than ps3 for some reason.

Re: What computer games are you playing?
The first Mass Effect is one of my all time favourite games. It didn't hold your hand like the sequels telling you exactly where to go for every mission, far more dialogue options, far larger areas to explore (the first Citadel pisses all over any other area in the sequels), actual exploration of planets instead of that bullshit scanning, shitloads more weapons and upgrades, shitloads more sidequests, none of that completely pointless war room and galaxy map, and a fucking great story before they muddled it up by changing the writing team twice. It took me 70+ hours to do everything in 1 playthrough on the first Mass Effect, 45 hours for number 2, 37 hours for number 3. EA'd for the masses.Biggles wrote:youthful_implants wrote:Oh I love that shit. I speak to everyone and try and do every side quest.Biggles wrote:Hmm. Re: What computer games are you playing?
I think ME2 was the best. the missions were a bit linear but I loved the structure of the game, the choices you could make and the overall polish. ME3 went too far with linear missions and the ending just seemed completely detached from everything that came before it. it was still an enjoyable experience though.
I am taking a bit of a break from games. But I am playing LA Noire a bit.

That was just my first playthroughs... x that by about 8 and you'll have my time spent in the Mass Effect universeleme wrote:you spent 6 solid days in the mass effect universe, crikey!

If 2 had the same exploration as the first one, I'd definitely prefer it. That's my biggest gripe without a doubt.

Re: What computer games are you playing?
I have fallen foul of the Steam sale again.
Bought Arkam City, Trine 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, Galactic Civ 2, RAGE, FEAR 3 and probably some more I forgot about.
Now have well over 300 games on Steam.
