Don't think it's news that particles can go faster than light speed? I think it's been known for a while innit :D

there were flaws in previous tests so they weren't sure if they did or not.

I love stuff like this. with religion its all bollocks but some people forget that most science is based on theories that could easily be disproved as well.

Neither will believing that "I think it's been known for a while" that faster than light travel is possible, or that fairies exist, or star trek is possible or UFOs are little green men from mars

One theory Kostelecky and his colleagues put forward in 1985 predicted that neutrinos could travel faster than the speed of light by interacting with an unknown field that lurks in the vacuum.

"With this kind of background, it is not necessarily the case that the limiting speed in nature is the speed of light," he said. "It might actually be the speed of neutrinos and light goes more slowly."

Oooh, that would be exciting.

the thing that pisses me off (as an engineering student) is when people like that women in the first telegraph article say it's going to change the laws of physics loads and that is awful and doom etc.

currently, the PRACTICAL (HAPPY NOW BAGLIPS YOU PEDANTIC BUFTY?) laws of physics work fine. that's why planes fly and bridges stay up.

the theory might be wrong but it works for everything currently applicable to the human race. so who cares?

it is definitely interesting but not something to worry about.

silly woman.
