What with all of these threads debating the future of breaks cropping up at the moment, it seems somehow appropriate that we're back on the air this Friday with another showcase mix from one of the stars of our unsigned showcases!!

This week on the AWEsome Beats show on www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk (friday 9 till 11pm BST) we've got a great mix from Binster - 30 minutes of his own tunes and those of you that troll the production forum will need no convincing that this is gonna be something special.

I asked the man himself to put some words together explaining what he's all about. This is what he had to say..........

Hello, Binster here. I used to have a beard, but I shaved it off.

..is that enough? Here's some more...

I'm 26 and I work in Reason producing dancey, tuneful electro-melodo-breaks kind of stuff. Based in Cambridge, I pass the time during the day making games for Sony.

I'm influenced by a great number of things. My parents made me listen to Pink Floyd and Neil Diamond when I was too young to protest, so I've developed a deep subconscious yearning for prog and croon.

More contemporary influences include yer breakbeat darlings (Evil Nine, Stanton Warriors, the Plumps, Ils), noodley melodics stuff (Way out West, Ulrich Schnauss, The Album Leaf), non-electronic stuff (Kings of Convenience, Mansun, Maximo Park), and retro computer game stuff (love that SID chip ).

I'm currently working on an album, which is getting scarily close to being finished. So far, I've not had anything signed, but I've had interest from here and there.

Anyway, I've said enough. Hope you enjoy the mix as much as I've enjoyed making the tunes.

Binster

So, make sure you tune in on Friday to hear his marvellous music, as well as the freshest beats that we can throw at you.

I usually put the mixes on about halfway through the show, so probably about 9:45 or so.

I'd just like to say a big Thankyou to a) P-Dub for offering me this opportunity and b) everyone on the boards for being supportive, critical and constructive of my, and everyone's work. I wouldn't have got where I am today without you lot.

'Where I am today' is still unsigned, I admit, but surely with the "Feeling Hot Hot Hot" bit from Shatner's Bassoon, it's only a matter of time... ;)

Cheers all, and enjoy the mix.

Oh, and Ren - you make me blush! ;)

Bummers!

Bump for Binster on AWE. I have to sit in the vicinity of this ginger attrocity everyday & he forces me to listen to his tunes, which, unfortunately, I recommend you do as well.

Something a little different, very melodic & top stuff.

Cheers!
Ren

Exactly!!!

Very different, and very good.

Refreshing to hear someone doing something much more unique - something that is borne out by the responses every time Binster posts a tune in the forum!

:D
