Hey guys.

Just wondered if anyone had stumbled across any particularly good plugins for Cubase (Freeware ones). I wanted to install some at a teaching centre with a low budget, to beef up the current setup.

Any really good synths, samplers, and effect plugins Compressors, filters etc) you've come across? I've often been impressed with the standard of some of the free (I mean freeware, not 'free') plugs out there.

Cheers

Chorus
Compressor,
Delay,
Eq,
Flanger,
Limiter,
Phaser,
Reverb,
Filter,

The chorus and the delay are very good!

Also download Frohmage Filter - http://www.ohmforce.com/ViewProduct.do?p=Frohmage

Its a wicked little plugin to mangle stuff. You can listen to the effect on my tune 'Get hype' Its the mad effect on the beats.

That lot should do for a start! :)

Sweet! Cheers guys. Already checked out those Tweak Bench plugs. Really like the unique style and the randomiser buttons a great idea!

As for the OHMboys, didnt realise they did a free one. Will definately get that installed (their full plugins are great).

The idea is to start getting some of the students using Cubase for sequencing MIDI a bit more, so some real nice looking and sounding plugs should do the trick.

Thanks again guys.

i like my polyiblit

destroyfx is a friend too
http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/

cockaigne has done some fun instruments as well. especially morpheus is nice for dark ambient synth sounds. add some delay and reverb and there you go.

also my partner in crime says freealpha by linplug is good. or at least he seems to use it all the fucking time.

Texture and Motion are BADASS lil synths - Motion does a lot of different sounds because it's got 3 step sequencers dedicated to doing mod.

Texture is a dope sounding single OSC dealy w/a decent sounding BP filter.

String Theory doesn't sound bad at all, and Rez is pretty dope (I'm on the older version, haven't checked out V. 2 yet)

WERD x300000000 - I use the Limiter on my main mix, and the EQ's. Really fucking good quality, for £0 money. 8)

mainly all mac stuff i'm afraid ...

synths.. zoyd (www.u-he.com) hornet (http://apulsoft.ch/freeports/index.php <-- in fact there is a whole heap of cool free shit here!) automat (http://www.alphakanal.de/snipsnap/space/Automat <-- the best free synth I've ever found)

plugins.. all the free stuff Apple gives us, (some users may not even know they have some free audio units pre-installed on their mac, Matrixverb is of particular interest) Destroyfx (http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/ in case it hasn't been mentioned yet) supatrigga (http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=6 <-- every breaks producer should have this) Audio damage fuzz (http://www.audiodamage.com <-- some excellent (cheap) plugins to buy here too)

Don't forget about the Krakli software available. Half of Ian Webster's stuff is EXCELLENT - and free. The one synth he charges for is pretty tight too - Yava2.

*Cygnus is a DOPE pad synth.
Vectis is pretty cool for being so tinny sounding.
Vurtbox is disgusting!
Meta 4x2 is fuckin bad.
Lizard & EffEm rock!*

*all free*
