no i just bought 'cif' off djdownload or somewhere like that, is it as good as cif? some of his stuff was a bit hit and miss i think, but some of it is ace.
i use cif as a bit of a secret weapon, like if i fuck up a mix or it seems a bit quiet

to be honest i didn't even know it was called electro house, i just buy records that i like the sound of and i suppose a lot of them sound a bit electro, i'd call it more tech house though really.

yea i could never figure it out either, i always thought all this shit was just tech house. i've just been finding more and more tunes that are sick that sound like tech house but happen to be in the 'electro' or 'electro house' sections. they got a four on the floor beat, sound electronic and fuckin rock is all i'm sure of heheh.

and yea, whoever started the thread, if you don't have a pile of Trentemoller tunes, get to buyin!!!!!!!!! Want 2/Need 2 (Trentemoller Remix), Coincidance, but Du What Yu Du (Trentemoller Remix) is my favorite i think...the drop at the end is SICK.

also check out Dry Spell by Habersham (everything they do is the shit). i know most of this shit isn't brand spankin new, but if you like that style i think its all must have kinda shit :)

oh and another thing re: buying other stuff cuz there aren't enough good breaks coming out....first off, what one person thinks is sick, and that they think "damn there's so many good records coming out" doesn't mean its good to somebody else who has different tastes (duuehhhr). i'm in agreement that there aren't that many GREAT breaks tunes comin out (plenty that work and get the job done, but the vast majority of even the good records coming out now are just rehashing the same shit *yawwwn*, especially from most of the so-called 'big' producers that people play the shit out of). even so i still buy piles of em.

i think its just a bad idea to restrict your shopping to one genre. i like good music, and it just happens to be scattered over a bunch of different categories...obviously its in higher concentrations in certain genres heheh, but damn, there's way too much good music to just stick 110% with breaks.

i will say though, bad tech/electro house is just plain excrutiating and annoying. bad breakbeat tends to land more on the painfully boring or cheesey end of things.

tech house was always much smoother sounding than what's coming out now and getting classed as electro house. much less driven by dirty as nails synths and thudwise drums. listen to some terry francis and compare to some of what strat has been recommending and le difference is pretty clear?

but agreed, buying and playing all styles is fun.

Boyz Noize - Volta 88
Anything by H Man or Oscar Hunteman (same bloke)
Anything by Digitalism
the new Uffie tune on Ed Banger (produced by Mr Oizo)
Dark Vektor or Boris Divider if you like your electro a bit more evil
Rekorder if you can get em, much more minimal but apparently some big producer releasing limited 12"s over the course of this year and so far (up to 4) they've been amazing.

Lots of this stuff is on the new Evil Nine Fabric mix coming out in june which is the best mix CD I've heard in a long, long time.
