Did anyone see the new channel 4 thing with Jonny Vaughan last night?

They've duped a bunch of complete fucktards into thinking that they've been flown to Star City near Moscow to train for a trip of a life time into space. They've actually been flown to a dressed up old military base in Suffolk.

It's genius. As a testament to the contestant's stupidity, no-one has looked around at the others and said "you're all a bunch of twats, no way would you have been selected for this, it's a setup!"

i think the fact that they are being told they are flying to space but not the bit of space where you lose gravity shows that these fuckards IQ's have all been reversing slowly since the day they were born

still no matter how stupid they are, telling some one your goin in to space, which would be the BIGGEST event in most peoples lives,

stringing them along for weeks/months whatever;

then sayin

'Hi Im jonny Vaugn the slightly annoying twat that used to be famouse, and you have all just had your dreams of space travle shattered'

is fuckin hash!

Joebot: that's true, yes it's harsh, but anyone signing up to take part in any form of reality TV nowadays should expect a degree of life ruining shame and humiliation. (e.g. What Not To Wear, Wife Swap, Too Posh To Wash, Big Brother, Kilroy etc etc). What drives people to agree to take part in this stuff? Is "fame" really that important to them?

What I find particularly amusing is that during the selection process they were each asked to nominate someone who they would totally trust to make important decisions. The producers visited them all, told them what was going to happen and asked would it be OK? Without exception, everyone said "YES!" ... have a think about who you'd nominate in that position, and then say whether they'd stitch you up in the same way. I know all my friends would do the same to me without hesitation. The bastards!

It's going to make classic viewing! LOL....

One of my mates knows the Keri bird from his old work.... says she's not the brightest spark!

To get around the 'zero gravity' problem, they've been told they're only going up to about 100km, where you're on the edge of space but still under Earth's gravity - hence no weightlessness.

Bunch on dumb-asses to be fair.... they've had to pick them for a reason ;)

I agree that everyone in it is a few sandwiches short of a picknick. I totally wouldn't have beleived that I was going to space. 1) The expense! I doubt Channel 4 have that kind of money to spend on one programme. 2) Astronauts are usually specially selected after an extremely rigorous process from many potential candidates (although I might be prepared to accept that as they are just being "space tourists" they might not need the qualities of a real astronaut) 3) The potential danger! I've never heard of a bunch of astronauts dieing in a horrible accident or anything, have you?

The programme must have really selected carefully because it would probably only taken one or two people to question it for others to start having doubts.

Cruel, but mildy amusing.

when they were told that they were going in to space, i think i'd be like, now hold on a minute, i don't really think i want to go into space cheers very much, not until you've worked out how to make space ships that bits don't fall off of at crucial moments.

laters!

ha ha ha, its a very sad programme with serious moral implications (agreed joebot) basically making entertainment out of peoples stupidity. however, stupid people are quite funny sometimes.

reality tv :crack:

i think this programme is cruel. it's one thing to get a load of wannabe-famous airheads in a house and laughing as they fight like caged animals, but to build up the hopes of a group of people to such an extent only to dash them cruelly upon the cold, unforgiving rocks of disappointment LIVE ON TV!!!!!1111 is pointless and juvenile. i mean, what happens when they tell them at the end? are they going to laugh along with the joke, or burst into tears? furthermore, which one are the producers aiming for? it's just bullying gullible people to gain ratings IMO :|

Yes it's very cruel to do this in the name of entertainment, but just look at how much of the TV schedules are filled with so-called Reality TV. I think it's inevitable that it's going to keep on getting more and more severe until someone loses their life -either as a stunt going wrong (remember that Noel Edmonds thing, anyone?), or from suicide because of the shock of humiliation and disappointment after the event.

Once a death occurs there will be uproar for a while and backlash against reality TV until things settle down to more intelligent programming.

In the meantime, despite all this I'm afraid I will continue to laugh along with the rest of the nation at the mugs who signed up for this - secretly wondering if it's possible that *I* would let myself be taken for such a ride, and suspecting that I might. :(

the bit that made me laugh was when they were told they'd be going to space and the black dude kept pointing up at the sky as if he'd only just realised thats where space was.

what a fucking penis.
