I was so excited when I saw the thread title; I thought it was going to reveal the secrets of how to start off with a few basic lines and end up with an amazing, life-like portrait...

Didn't think it would be

Step 1: Draw an amazing, life-like portrait.
Step 2 - 5: Colour it in.
