Has anyone heard of this?

You can become an official Lord or Lady for around £40 - even add it to your drivers licence.

One company that offers the service - http://www.highlandtitles.com/

Has anyone on the forum done this?

We did this for my dad for his 50th. Or his 40th. You get a plot of land about a square yard and you are lord of that land. He can have it on his bank card, license etc... But hasnt bothered.

When he dies, i inherit the title.

there was a time when you could buy a title, and it gave you the rights to all the 'common' land in your estate. one guy found out all the space between the houses, and the road and the houses, were his, and put fences up or charged everyone living there rent for walking over it to get to their own homes etc. made a bloody fortune as they bought it off him.

Exactly. If it was useful it might make sense. But a square yard just so you can have a made-up 'title' kinda misses the point really.

It's a bit like those daft 'own land on the moon' gift vouchers. If someone gave me one of those I would tear it up in front of them and tell them to fuck off and give me a real present.
