I was born in 1978 and the first year that I was conceptually conscious of was 1984. The first World Cup i was aware of was Mexico '86. The first general election I voted in was 1997.

These are Panic Button's interesting facts of the day for the 17th of April 2012.

i was in 74.

thought it was pretty good as a 'light' social and political history, without being vacuous and fluffy, the stuff about heath was interesting, the house price shiz, and how thatcher didn't create it, it created her, how the ugandan indians changed the face of britain with their determination to rebuild their lives etc.

good stuff.
