You will have to excuse my poor Cornish punctuation..... While others find the time to dwell on such mispronunciations, I have been really busy for years now having a good time at fantastic Breakbeat parties with lots of decent people of all ages, sexes, races and sexual persuasions to give a flying fuck

But thanks, info uploaded! I won't use no un proper grammer or spell shit agen :D

*edit: I'm joking xxx

if people don't like 95% of the current breaks i don't understand what they are doing in a breaks forum. Wouldn't it be better to go on forums that promote the music they like? (there's probably none if the only music they ever liked was breaks in 2005). Life is to short to waste time with what you don't like.

Breaks have evolved, probably into something that the old school guys don't like, that's fine, but i don't think the trolling will bring the 2005 back. That type of breaks belongs to the past, it's about time some people just move on and leave the current breaks alone.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it is not good, and just because you don't understand it, it doesn't mean it makes no sense.

whining people are a pain in the ass. Criticism is welcomed as long as it's constructive. Insults and piss taking are off putting and send people away.

This forum is at serious risk of becoming the "old school breaks whining club"

That said, i find some of nik_'s posts hilarious because i don't take them seriously. Other trolls are just nik_ wannabees but without sense of humor.

Just my humble opinion :)

 your newest track is ... labelled breakbeat but its electro trance house

its not breaks - im sure its a very good electrotrancehouse song and you are no doubt a capable producer but you cant expect to come here and try to peddle this as breaks lol. i will tell you why - its missing some defining elements that make it breaks - let alone decent music of any conceivable sub genre in.

* no drums - massive kick and snare. doesn't even have the 'kick smash kick kick smash' pattern only the 'kick smash kick smash' :(
* no percussion, only straight hats
* psytrance preset melody aka psytrance
* super smashed sounds - everything is up front - no restraint thought or placement with the any sounds sound - only consideration is to make a wall of noise and a waveform like a square.
* that awful grinding 'bass noise'
* annoying and relentless 'its time for a break' sample - really lol where did you get that and what made you think you would get away with putting it in? :tut:
* the feeling its a load of the worst bits of electronic music put in one place.

the argument that 'just because you like it doesn't mean its not good' argument is a bad one and falls flat when you consider that even outside of this forum - where it is supposedly meant to be at home - everyone hates it / doesn't want to know about it / wont buy it / its not even allowed to go on vinyl or in proper digital stores...there is no demand for it or interest in it. it has no following and never will.

its cool you are making something you like and your group of mates with mp3 blogs can share this music but its not to the taste of this specific group on this little internet forum or as demonstrated by sales, media, online/print reviews n investigations, bookings, real world output, cultural connection to a time and place or overall aesthetic - THE ENTIRE WORLD BASICALLY HATES IT.

I suppose overall if this elctrotrance wasn't presented in such an aggressive fashion under the misguided assumption that it is a good product and pushed so hard onto an unwilling audience id think the stunningly negative reactions would be far less.

the whole self big upping write ups, shit rip off artwork, top 100 beatport charts are all total bullshit and make your product even shitter than it actually is.

some restraint, self respect and hard work wouldn't go astray IMO.

:circularsaw:

please stop making this everyone lol

Its a shame that you don't contribute anything musically to the world....... Can you send us all a link to your Facebook account so we can analyse and pull apart your life for our own amusement when we've got nothing better to do

looks like trolling to me. ;)

nic_, to be fair, has made some really good artwork and videos supporting some fucking great music. he's done a fair few mixes that inhabit my ipod too. not breaks, as such, but still, a valid contribution.

not that he has to be validated to have an opinion though olly. or is it only current breakbeat producers that are allowed to do that?

my 2p - breaks as i know it dies, for the most part, a few years ago. some people moved on to more gratifying genres with less bickering about genres, some stayed and, to my mind, lost what breaks is about. which is groove, space and the ability to do what the fuck it wants. now, mostly what i hear is electro house, dated fidget or sub par bass music being called breaks. which offends me. breask ceases to be so if you could replace the beats with a 4/4 and either improve it or make no discernible difference to the groove. I'm also not opposed to house/techno etc. i still buy them. how come i rarely get to buy breaks now?

you can say i'm not moving with the times, but i'd say i am, as i find breaks/broken stuff in other genres, and play that. i also have produced and helped run the odd forum and label. hopefully that allows me an opinion.

If people want the forum to be more positive then be more positive, ignore the 'haters' and show people what you do. join the community.

or don't, whatever, it's fine.
