I'm not sure I can tell the difference between goose/duck fat and sunflower oil TBH.

Do you make the gravy from the juices/fat? I can tell from that but not from the roast tatties.

Yes, I always roast on top of some chopped onion/carrot/celery/garlic/bay leaf too for extra flavour in the juices.

Really? I think it's fairly easy to pick up if something's been cooked in animal fat.

I am enjoying Wednesday, as I'm currently sat in southampton's best beer garden with a pint, and a burger on the way :woo: :sun: :drink:

I don't do roast dinners at home much and have never done an A/B taste test with roasties cooked in animal vs vegetable fat. I probably would know the difference side by side. All I know is I still fucking love them either way if they're cooked right.

Try it. They make the dinner. I wouldn't dream of making a roast without them now.

Roasted carrots are good, no doubt. But better than roasted spuds? No way.

On their own I agree. But a fork full of mash, chicken, roast carrot, yorkie pud tastes loads better than a fork full of mash, chicken, roast tattie, yorkie pud. It seems to make everything else taste better.
