there's only two sorts of music really, good and shit i prefer the good stuff on the whole
I listen to a wide range of stuff. Everything from classical, opera, ambient, drone, abstract, IDM, acid, breaks, funk, electro, stoner rock, prog rock, industrial, hip hop, 80s trash, Kate Bush, you name it.

I'm on a constant hunt for fresh sound.
One day I'll be into glitched to fuck abstract sound, and the next I'll be on a 20min a track drone fest with some hardcore techno from Hellfish and the day after it will be Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and the Smashing Pumpkins.
Mostly day to day I reckon I prob listen to more techno, electro and electronica than anything else, that and droney soundscape stuff. Very little of it as vocals. I can't really focus on work with vocal stuff.
I rarely listen to anything in the chart or pop music, including things like Coldplay etc. More mainstream wise I quite like Bat for Lashes, Dead Weather and Them Crooked Vultures at the moment (although nothing on QOTSA), and Hermelin (german post rock instrumentals based group v. recommended)
The electronica stuff I come across day to day mostly goes up here
