Quick question: Why is Tech-Funk called tech-funk?

I understand the Tech bit obviously- but does the funk bit come from a broken beat or is it tongue in cheek (an oxymoron?)

I'm not trying to piss any one off or be-little the music I just don't understand where it came from (I know what little sense of humour there is in the world of techness :) ).

Strikes me that it's difficult to find a genre that has less funk to it...

(I know I'm going to get abuse from Daniella Downs about this)

Cheers for helping out guys! (Can open worms everywhere....)

Anthony

All you need is a small penknife and a worm (obviously) :)

I think its just cos its techy and its funky

you know so Shack abbreviated it to techfunk which is kinda catchy

His stuff is still very much techfunk IMO. It could be breaks, could be house, could be techno. And it doesn't matter, because its definitely techfunk.

I suppose it just describes the middle area between techno, electro house and breaks. It's funk with a techy feel?

to be honest I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a genre of music but more a style of encompassing various genres, I might be wrong though.

It's a DJ style rather than a genre. An anti genre if you will.
