Breaks Will Eat Itself - Resistance + Remix En:Vision recordings Release Date: November 30th, 2009
Hot off the trails of Future Funk Squad’s ‘Disorders and Reorders of skill’ packages en:vision gets back on track with its single releases.
First up is a killer debut release from Liz Melody under her newly formed alias ‘Breaks Will Eat Itself’ (BWEI) About this project Liz tells us: “I really wanted to toughen up my sound which wasn’t going to work with the Liz Melody moniker. BWEI is rather tongue in cheek and emerged in reference to the long standing,relentless ‘breakbeat is dead’ debates For this I have channeled the late spirit of and paid homage to one of my all time favorite groups ‘Pop Will Eat Itself’. The title and lyrics are self-explanatory! I wonder sometimes that there might be some misconception I am only a vocalist but I actually produce my own tracks, create the sounds, ideas, melodies and lyrics.”
A tougher sound indeed! With En:Vision's long history of scorching hot floor burners, it seems "Breaks Will Eat Itself" (BWEI) will fit right in!!! En:Vision has always been synonymous with quality breaks. Regardless of the flavor, if its out on En:Vision its always dope! At least that's been my experience! This is certainly no exception to that rule!
On the 'A' side we have... "Breaks Will Eat Itself" - Resistance (Original) This could be from 2002 or 2012 and I wouldn't be surprised either way! You know I'm not usually into tracks with vocalist due to cheesy lyrics and bad vocalist! This track however has neither! Really digging the vocal line and Liz just sounds great on top this tune! I could actually imagine this doing quite well on top40 fm radio! I can't believe I just said that as I despise top40 radio, but if I were to tune in and heard this I would be pleasantly surprised!
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any darker the legendary northern UK breakbeat duo Backdraft provide us with a twisted monster of a remix that walks the fine line between dubstep and breakbeat!
On the 'flip' side... "BWEI" - Resistance (Backdraft Rmx) Woowaawewa!!! The intro to this tune is so hauntingly eerie I actually got chills and then the beat+bass drop in..... This tune is MASSIVE!!! From the intro to the breakdown to the outro it will have you wanting more and more and more! You will see no resistance fom me! If this is whats to come for breaks, I happily except the changes! AS good as this remix is, without the vocals, it would just be another song! Again its the vocals are what really make this tune shine!

I'd just like to point out that we did Breaks will eat itself ages ago when we did the bootleg of PWEI Karmadrome but tbh it doesnt really matter cos Pop will eat itself did it first n'all didnt they.
