Tam's room looks like the work of a madman, and Clods speaker's are insane!

Fender twin circa 1970, tube joy

really? i do notice a lot on here are just either side of the monitor, does it make that much difference? room would need adjusting for wall mounted brackets, cos i use the top ones for dj monitors and need swivelablilty.

I would put the smaller speakers on the table for mixdowns or always

The distance betwixt the speakers changes the volume of the phantom centre.

If they're too close the phantom centre will be too loud

too far apart and the centre will sound too quiet

Obv your bass, kik and vox will probly be in the centre thus harder to balance

You can get around this by listening to one speaker in mono or checking on lots of diff systems

On the other hand your album has great balances so maybe it dont matter

Theres a great section in the "mixing with your mind" book by paul stavarou about this and i found it v useful

I do spend a lot of time monitoring one speaker on mono as a result

well, the album is a mixture of being mixed there, and on headphones, so balance will be a combination of both. i do tend to automaticaly turn my amp to mono and see what it sounds like in one speaker, but i use a laptop, a phone if poss and all the stereos i can get my hands on before letting anything 'finished' loose.

think it's time i bought that book now though.
