So one of my biggest hates about maschine is it renders in Stereo. Even from within your DAW.

However I can't say i have noticed anything different from what I'm playing in Maschine live.

I don't export audio from the vst gui into Live, I just do program changes with midi notes.

So what gives ?

I like to use maschine stand alone just to make and layer drum sounds, bc it is quick and esy, but obviously when it is time to render I end up with the hit in stereo. So i put said hit into an audio editor.

Now I can sum the channels to create a mono file to import into my DAw, not maschine pfff bc it will only rerender it in stereo :(.

Am i loosing punch by suming the hit ? will there be some offset that might introduce phasing ?

What pain in the ass, with an identical stereo image of a hit, is the only difference a gain in volume ? am I over thinking it and is having an identical stereo image of hit any different in sound from a mono ?

If it is..wth N.I major flaw!

It shouldn't phase cancel unless you have samples that are oppose (it's more common with recording where if you have a mic on both side of the drum or multiple mics at different distances that cause phase distortion as one is telling the speaker to push, the other to pull, cancelling each other out)

The only way you can really tell if something is phase distorting is take seperate left and right channels, phase invert one and listen to each element phase flipped and normal. Difference in phase is also what causes stereo :)

There may also be a metering plugin in live that'll show you the correlation between the left and right channels. If it shows a vertical line, then they're identical. Otherwise it'll show you how far separated they are. A stereo file where both channels have exactly the same data is effectively mono.

Does Maschine allow pan? I'd be appauled if it didn't, in which case just pan everything centre (hopefully it works like it does with Battery)

Oh yeah, in reference to how important it is, it's best to keep the low end mono. A bit of width in the higher frequencies is cool for extra sonic interest though.

Thanks guys, you have covered it. Yes Maschine does have pan lol N.i can be shit...but there not there yet haha still no 24bit sampling in 2012 pffff but we do get transient shaper to pop those breaks in 1.8 yay.

I know the low has to be centered, but ppl bang on about getting more ummf in mono so just wanted to make sure if i had the stereo centered it would indeed be effectively mono if the chans where the same sample.

I was just concerned that there would be some rendering glitch of something that could offset the files that could start to screw with things. To my ears it sounds fine.
