something i've always been curious about is how many demo's fledgling producers have sent out to labels before getting their first release.

i remember wolfgang gartner posting fourteen of his unsigned demo's to an upload site and thinking they were fucking good, yet hadn't been touched by labels. i suppose it's really a question of whenever you're good enough and targeting the right labels, but i'm just interested in the numbers side of things.

in this modern age the best thing to do AFAIK (im not a pro) is to do the equivalent of what steelz did back in his heady heady days:

send them to beatport

It's a bit back in the day but for me I sent out hundreds of CDs to labels before I got a bite. I spent far more on demo mailing than I made in my first 3 releases combined :)
