Hi

Another one from me. Feedback is most welcome.

Hyperdub by xmonsta

Still continuing with mixing up different genres. This one is dub inspired with techy bits. Trying to experiment with making slow music sound fast and how to build it up using different rhythms.

Embers breaks it is not!

Cheers

I didn't warm to it straight away but at 2mins the pads add a bit of glue to it. You have managed to use a few sounds that normally really grate on me in a way that I quite enjoyed. :app:

It is decent and it's a well balanced mix, nice trancey pads
But the wobbles sounds to...straight outta massive
Compare your track with some wobble masters like dz or excision

Thanks Contepella (always great constructive advice and absolutely spot on). So I made that change you suggested to the wobble bass and am really liking how it sounds. Would be grateful if you can take a second look, to see whether it's near to what you were thinking, as I uploaded a new version.

Thanks for all the comments from everyone. The idea was to take some genres/samples that many people dont really like (I dont really do dubstep myself) and to turn them into something thats bareable (maybe nice to listen to?), so hopefully I came close to achieving that.

Hi mate its all mid range wobble. I cannot hear any low end on this track. This sound needs a heavyweight sub otherwise it is well, just a load of mid range wobble. Some percussion would also be nice.

yeh add some sub under the wobbles.

could maybe work on the structure/arrangement a bit imo as well, make it all bit more defined - intro/breakdown/drop etc

think it needs a few more layers. maybe throw a little 'huh'/'woo'/'yeh'/ old skool sample in there

Aw, thanks so much for the nice comments.

Totally agree on the sub. Im finding the sub so difficult to mix bz I bought a krk sub and my room isnt treated, so its been knocking me right off course! However, I did really try to get a good fat sub sound and also shortened the arrangement in some areas.

I uploaded a new version so would be grateful for any comments on how the new sub sounds and whether the arrangement is better.

Can thank you enough for all your brilliant comments!

Next step maybe is to play around with the intro and fx/vocals, so will get cracking on that.

Cheers

X

This sounds like an experiment more than a song.

not thats necessarily a bad thing but I prefer more traditional structures to this fairly random arrangement of sounds.

the sounds themselves are quite cool though.

haha, yes it was an experiment i did late last nite to add a sort of house beat to it (the original idea I used to make this track which sounded so cool at the time), but the groove doesnt work like it did when i first started! I will upload the old version (which is sort of dubstep/techfunk) for the time being, then im going to go back to the drawing board, to figure out what made me follow this track in the first place

Cheers
