Hi! This is my first [Tune] post in this forum. I'm currently taking a pop-dance style song and remixing into a breakbeat track with a trance-like atmosphere to it. I've just started working on the vox but I have finished the instrumental backing track. A lot of the tunes in this forum seem to be of a very high standard so if anyone cares to listen, hopefully you may have some thoughts for me on this one while I get to grips with the vocals? Any feedback, good or bad is very useful, as I've only been making music for about a year now and am very much still learning. Be brutal if necessary!

pretty good track, can't comment much on the production side atm my ears are ringing and I'm pretty tired - but it flows really well & sounds like you've pretty much accomplished the whole trance feel

I've now got a new version with the vocals mixed in and with the dubstep middle replaced with a breakdown. I decided to do that after being told that that part wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the song.

Snare is a bit dry and needs a bit of work to add interest, especially in the beginning of the track where there's not a whole load going on. Some reverb and a smidge of delay so there's some ghost notes and ambiance in there would be a good start. Also the vocals are quite dry and would also benefit from a room reverb or similar.

Thanks for the feedback, but would you mind elaborating those points a bit? I've already got a room reverb on the snare (and the kick and other drums too) and hall reverb and ping-pong delay on the vocals mixed in quite high. Do you think I need to increase all the send volumes considerably?

I had to turn it off soon as she started in on the second verse

Why? I need a bit more detailed feedback than this...

Sry, really hate to leave negative feedback, but I think those vocals are just really bad. Like you should pick something different altogether.

I listened to your first version and liked it, but whatever that lady was on about just turned me right off.

I don't have a problem with negative feedback at all, I'd rather get honest opinions! This has been produced from the start as a remix of this song, because I actually like it. So I will probably make a dub version, but the vocals aren't going to change.

I'm not entirely sure what the song is about either, I just liked the sound of the original - she was going for a Yazoo inspired sound. It's certainly not universally popular with people I've played this to, some people say it's great (usually synthpop fans) and a few others don't like it at all.

Don't feel you have to listen to it if you don't like it! The feedback on the instrumental was encouraging, so thanks for that.

Can't get past the vocal, makes me wish I didn't have ears tbh.

Tune sounds decent but it's hard to judge with the vocals killing everything.

I see.... well if you want the instrumental it's in the original post, and under here:

I've modified the file to reflect the updated version of the song!
