Under the paving stones of Angel Islington in North London, where bats grace the walls and red satin drapes the piano in the corner, there is a coming together underway that will see the freshest and most eclectic talent combine forces for one purpose and one purpose only.
On the Saturday 5th December we’re bringing, to The Frankenbar in Angel, a FREE night of 13 DJ’s, 2 artists and a special feature showcase purely to immerse you in the world of a mixture.
DJ’s in partnerships, battling on the same decks at the same time, in an intimate venue, playing a developing spectrum of styles from hip-hop to house and booty-dub to breaks; the line up has been tried and tested, collectively, over a number of epic nights, and each one knows how to get you moving more than you thought you had the energy for.
You will see the big players of NSB radio, Raindance & Braindrop Residents, Graffiti Breakz fundamentalists and DJ’s with black ties in Angel’s newest choice venue. To get an idea of what SNC Audio and Frankenbar are brining to the heart of Angel see the variation below that constitutes A Mixture!
Apply the Breaks
3 DJ’s a Scratch Artist and an MC. ATB never fail to get the party rocking. With having played at Glade Festival, Wave form, Raindance among others these boys will take you through a breaks journey hitting heavy, funky, hip-hop and electro breaks. Their talent behind the decks is phenomenal, and they will always push the boundaries of musical diversity.
Boy Wonder NSB - Skanks Show
The man behind the respected Skanks Radio show, boy wonder has been playing everything under the sun, to thousands of listeners from across the globe for over 6 years now. Having hosted guests such as Flux Pavilion, Matman, Rich Stone, Carpet face & Audible, Reeps One and carbon to name but a few, his musical repertoire is impressively extensive, and with mixing talents to match, his set could consist of anything and everything.
Phil Welch (Black tie DJ’s)
Phil Welch's DJ sets are never boring, that's for sure; the journey taking crowds through a mixture of house, electro, techno, old skool, hardcore, breaks and funk, held up by an impressive collection of original vinyl pressings dating back to the 80's. Phil has played to over half a million (Paris Techno Parade 1999), gracing clubs such as 414, The Glasshouse, 93 Feet East, Rhythm Factory, Scala, Corsica studios, SeOne alongside international acclaim in France, Thailand's Full Moon Parties, Rio and Australia, and now he brings the energy and sound to an intimate venue.
Skinny & Clarkie – Graffiti Breakz
Having come from hip-hop and hard house back grounds respectively, Skinny and Clarkie bring breaks with an influence. This is no ordinary break beat set, with Skinny’s love of urban, and Clarkie’s passion for all things electronic, the two styles fuse together and sweep through funky, fresh and flirtatious breaks all the way to Dirty, Dark and devious dub.
Silly Pundit - Braindrop
Electro Dub is a style that is still very underground, but it being brought to the forefront by Mr Pundit in a big way. With heavy two-step ethnic undertones, and Synths and rifts that float across the dance floor Silly’s sound is unique and thumping.
Lukazade - Raindance
With 6 years Raindance residency under his belt, Lukazade is an old skool, filthy, dirty house legend. He has been known to convert the hardest of Hip-Hop fans to love the house beat, and he continues to grace the stage of SeOne with Old Skool anthems and cutting edge exclusives.
Tweak & Bleep – We are live Scala
Chunky Electro from the man behind ‘We are live’ at Scala. The mix of bouncy and grimey sounds have entertained European and UK crowds alike, and returning his driven sound to a more intimate venue will be like trying to tame a wild bull, so expect to be blown away by this set.
Mjoogoo – NSB Radio - High Heels Session
Yet another familiar face of NSB, his much respected High heels sessions is now in its 8 years and his electronic breaks and house sound is far from the standard. With a ‘holiday’ is production and tune selection, it will always make you smile, and keeps you on your toes, and never fails to please
JT – Triple L Promotions –
Solo set from the godfather of selection. JT is renowned for his ability to read the crown and play to please. With over 10,000 songs at his disposal at the push of a button, and with the incredible sixth sense to ‘play that tune you always wanted to hear’ JT is one of the DJ’s that always put a smile on the crowds face.
(Also being a birthday special this set will be nothing short of legendary)
Ralph K & Martin D - Social Behaviour
The Social behaviour team join forces to take the room by storm. All time classics, remixes of much loved anthems and bass driven accapellas can be found in the eclectic sets from the people that made Social behaviour so well respected.
Sticky Fingers - Raindance
This duo hailing from Luton have rocked the Horn for over 6 years now, and with Dubstep production alongside their signature breaks sound, you will not be short a dancing beat with these two. Whilst celebrating a birthday on the same day, tey ware pulling something very special out the bag for this one.
The spectrum is covered, all styles, all speeds, all loved...that’s what you call a Mixture.
And don’t forget this event is FREE FREE FREE all night, but make sure you arrive early, we can only fit 160 people in at a push, so make sure you’re downstairs early to catch every attraction.
The Backdrop for this musical showcase of styles is the chic yet elegant Frankenbar just off Upper Street in Angel, where rustic and industrial come together, and with live art being drawn at the event, there is more to a mixture than just good music.
