still a vast amount of non-clownstep d&b out there if you care to look for it mate :)

try these LPs for starters, all from 2005

calyx - no turning back
teebee - the legacy
klute - no one's listening any more

zero clown in that little lot! :)

Pendulum have really shown their quality with their album. A diverse collection, showcasing what excellent MUSICIANS they are. Yes they make rediculous, rave tunes such as Another Planet and Slam, but the pure emotional quality of Hold Your Colour, Girl In The Fire and Still Grey are just examples of there skill.

Totally Agree... i dont class anything pendulum do as clownstep, because the sounds are all in-key with each other. True Clownstep should'nt have any real care for tuning.

Think Pendulum are quality, always have been, and new album is no let down.

Slam is ace, some nice little subtle rude bass bits in there. That Voodoo People mix is a bit gash as standards go though.

Apparently they are supporting Prodigy on their 'Their Law' tour. Pendulum and Prodigy in Manchester MEN - no more to be said.

NO SHIT? superb. playing in lincoln in like 6 weeks and supporting Prodigy... hehehehehe its gonna hurt.

is the aquasky/pendulum tune on the flip to overneath?

I find the Pendulum stuff, what Ive heard of it anyway, a bit depressing: really obvious, lacking any soul whatsoever, and not even funny. Stoopid drum and bass is all well and good (hell haven't we all got a scarily large collection of old urban takeover stuff... somewhere?), but to me this just sounds like cheap and nasty, aggressive, macho crap designed to make 17yr old boy racers feel hard. Boo, indeed!!!

Just re-read that post and, yes, before any of you filthy-minded muthas ask, I guess I do mean 'hard' in every sense of the word. Word!

I have an undying love for all things loungey/liquid DnB. I really need to follow it more.

The stuff Danny Shutdown plays drives me wild.

Pendulum started well with Vault but have since further watered down their sound without compromising their skills to make party tunes. While thats fine for the radio one massive - it sounds ghey to anyone who like underground DnB. People bigging up ed rush & optical is cool - its all about Optical really - one of my favourite DJs its a real shame about his ears. Peeps not really mentioning Renegade Hardware, TOV, Bad Company or Fresh in this thread which surprises me. The Australian pretenders to the UK scene will never surpass homegrown talents like BC. I would also have to say that the 'clownstep' sound (Hazard, Clipz, Full Cycle et al) make the best drug music in the world.
