The pit is like the one in The Dark Knight Rises. Christian J got the closest to escaping but slipped and is now 2 months into his recovery from a broken leg.

Terminalhead whatever Skank mix I occasionally play. It's nice and squelchy. :D

Whenever I'm feeling the vague reggae vibe. (On the same evening I will play loads of Dreadzone)

nice - I get my records back in a couple of months - if this is on the hyper breaks sampler, than I've got it - didn't even know I did! - sweet tune..

re: terminal have long been defunked - I think they broke up and stopped producing in like 2006-2007? at the latest - could have been earlier....not sure...

Christian J - he was wicked producer - I think I even remember him posting on here that he was openly retiring years ago - I don't even think he ever played a show? - maybe a couple? - pretty sure most of the techfunk crew (aside from elite force) all got him to do the mix-downs to all their tunes...

Chris is still producing, mostly for some BITG names, did not retire and yes he did mixdowns for most of the tech funkers, thats why they sounded so good, he is now in brighton, collecting expensive compressors

yeah - I was almost totally positive that he (Christian J) did basically the mix-downs for all of them (and yes, I agree, they sound absolutely proper on a big rig) - and yes, I had no doubt that he would remain in the industry, what I meant was that he retired from releasing under his own name - kinda like Any Page - basically disappeared - but I'm pretty sure he produced Alannis' (sp - can't be arse'd to check the spelling - and she's even Canadian, from my Ottawa!) - last album - don't how it did on the charts though....

I have seen Christian J play once at Fabric and once at Hum.

really? I thought he might have played a couple of shows, but not more than a handful - I guess he likes being behind the scenes

we never had anything like HUM in toronto (which was where I was living for nearly 10 years)....I kept trying to tell the leading breaks promoter here it's all going to become techfunk (and a pretty significant breaks label owner) - they were all good mates, but they didn't/couldn't see the trend coming....anyway the leading breaks promoter in Toronto never booked any of those cats (Meat Katie, Rhymes, Elite Force) - although he did book Coombs - and although he still has significant booking connections with agents and whatnot, breaks totally lost status there (I guess in the UK too - Plump's no longer seem to have their residency as Fabric?) - we lost our major venues etc...aside from the techfunk guys though, I did basically see every act I wanted to over that 10 year period (and I mean in every genre - DnB is/was still huge in Toronto - like I think aside from the UK, it's THE place in NA for DnB - but I was always more into techno - so I saw Beyer many times, Speedy J several times, Hawtin several times Cox etc..)...and I mean everybody - except the Plump's - there was some issue about them getting Canadian work visa - probably shouldn't get into it

sorry for the thread hi-jack and the long post - I've been drinking lol - I tend to really ramble

This was a good few years ago. Wicked dj and producer. Yes no plumps residency at fabric as they moved labels/style and play at the nest/xoyo now. It's all dubstep, dnb, electroscousehouse and lolicore at fabric these days

Sankeys used to have regular breaks nights as well. Even as recently as 2009 they would have nights on with Coombs, Pilgrem, Plumps, Stantons etc. Now it's all wankfest house with the very occasional good techno or drum and bass night. I think Woppa killed breakbeat tbh.
