Was there an active breaks scene at any point in the past in Japan?
There was over here in Holland, now it's the same as for you, nothing happening at all.

Actually yes. Apparently 10 years ago. But I wasn't living in Japan when it happened so I can't be too certain. according to people from remixer remix(event productiondon no longer exists), that's when breaks djs were most active over here. Toshiyoshi NKJ from remixer remix is the one who brought Stanton warriors, future funk squad etc to Japan. But he is not engaged in the scene at all, living in Taiwan now working. So then I came back here in 2008, the scene was no where to be seen any longer, completely devastated and demolished by justice and electro dj followers. Remixer remixs last night was in 2006 I think? And since then no breaks djs are to be seen anywhere.

i just read his interview. c'mooon, he only span in Fukuoka, that's it! Fukuoka is 900km away from here...If the scene is dead in Tokyo, will 1/7th the size of the city compared to Tokyo have the breaks scene? don't you think I am too late to get in touch with them?

Well let me try... :tuna:

Didn't I say I'd try? Thanks tho, I found several other advocates through kawatin too, will get in touch with Dan f and so on and on. This thread is helping me already, see.

But idea wise, just doing nights and promoting djs will face very challenging problem..which is to educate the audience here whose mind is filled with hentai manga/anime fantasy with a gay unicorn and overly cute and kawaii electro tunes that glitter so much I can't even see them if without annular eclipse glasses. people here simply got bad taste in music

I will save breaks in Nippon. It will cost ¥9,000,000. Let me know if you would like to take this forward.

Funnily enough, I was just about to ask the exact same quest about Germany. Have they ever had brekz over there, even in Berlin, or is it all techno?

Carepack Records was a Berlin-based label that put out a bit of breaks along the way.
