its pretty similar to what you should be doing on nsb.... although surprisingly few of the djs donate and it usualy comes from jimmys pocket.

the difference between regulars and guests - regulars ( in theory ) benefit from having a show ( they get gigs ect ) and therefore its not unreasonable to ask for a fee ( especialy with access to the RTR studio - its rather good! ) whereas a gusts is promoting the station by being on there.

I know this is a few months old but have just seen a post by Tq regarding this thread which he posted yesterday. thought i would post up what he said as he appears unable to post in NSB for some reason....

"Just seen an intresting post in the NSBRADIO forums about if we pay our guests and how do we afford to run with no adverts...... Well 1st off, we have NEVER paid a guest to perform on Rough Tempo.. FACT!!

Secondly, we're very proud to say that all our resident djs and mcs (past & present) have funded the running of Rough Tempo and the studio upgrades... (many DJs have paid lots of subs upfront to allow us to get new equipment, thanks guys x)..

Rough Tempo is run very professionally with a good business model.. (Scoundrel, the boss, previously worked in Project management for many large private and public sector organisations and has an extensive background in IT which has saved huge amounts in support an infrastructural design costs.)

We also cut many of our costs & our carbon footprint by using low voltage equipment where possible (led monitors rather than lcd for example) & led lighting in the entire building.. added to this Scoundrel has put the majority of his DJing earnings into the running of Rough Tempo along with an initial investment of 25k in equipment with profit from a house sale....

That should clear things up
