I thought 2008 was a bit scary for breaks what with everyone going all electro and that.

But the stuff that's being released at the moment is FUCKING MENTAL!

I've bought more tunes since the beginning of the year than I did for the whole second half of 2008.

Looks like its back with a vengeance.

I'm listening to the NAPT Funkatech records mix at the moment - it's got some CRAZY tunes on.

Everyone else of the same opinion or is it just me?

people in general.

all those cheeky electro tracks that were sneaking into mixes seemed to take over a bit and the breaks seemed to be starting to take a bit of back seat behind the wonky warmp warmp of it all.

and to name artists specifically - Far Too Loud, Aquasky, baobinga, meat katie, rogue element to name but a few...

although they seem to be making breaks again, which was sort of my point. Is breaks gonna revert to where it should be as the best genre in the world ever that everyone should listen to?

Well. People can make what they like really.

I'd like to hear breaks with breakbeats of course.

But I'll wait and see.

There is a hell of a lot of good stuff coming out at the mo...

Breaks never 'died' in my opinion anyway, it just needed to rest + recharge itself for a bit!! ;-)

If breaks was the best genre in theworld and everybody was listening to it you'd get people like basshunter making it

Oh and taking swipes at people for not making/playing breaks doesnt make it an appealing genre for fresh blood to come into IMO. People like Aquasky and Baobinga are pushing good, exciting music right now and publicly naming them (and others) on a breaks forum pushes them further and further away from the scene every time you do it. So stop it.

Breaks wont die, it's too big for that.
Breaks, small enough to remain underground and big enough to survive anything.

The people that moved away from breaks last year did so because thats the direction they wanted to take and you've just personally named them as responsible parties for breaks being 'a bit scary' in 2008. Some of these artists check these hallowed pages and you've just given them as much reason as they need to avoid this scene in 09. I just really disagree with your approach in this thread thats all...

Im not disagreeing with the idea of 09 being a great year for breaks by the way. I would openly welcome the happening. :)
