A pair of Mackie hr 824's for sale, have been used with a subwoofer, so not been thrashed or overloaded. these are the mark one's, with a much flatter, more detailed sound than the overly boomy mark twos.

tried almost everything under 1200 quid i could get my hands on and the adams came out on top, I also liked the a77x's, but didnt need the exteneded bass response, as am keeping the mackie hrs120 sub. i think for 500 quid second hand the mackies are still massively worth the cash and i honestly had to spend (well, what should have been) double that to make a noticable difference.

I could probably do without the sub with the a8x's to be honest, have got it crossed over at about 45hz, its only the bottom couple of notes it makes any difference. i would only reccomend them if you have a room with basstraps though, they really do go that low that you need them. stick with the a5x or a7x's for smaller or untreated rooms
