I have been reading about physics for a few years and what has happened is i understand the basics so i am asking deeper questions and it is complex ! We use vector fields for weather, where a point has two values, wind speed and wind direction.

Quantum fields on the other hand seem to be far more complicated, and i will put my hands up, i am fucking confused !

Here is what i have learnt. So now i know a quantum field is not a physical medium for quanta to travel through. I have just read that a field is rather, a set of points distributed throughout space. That makes some sense to me. Depending on what phenomena you want to study, electromagnetism, strong force ect, you give those points certain values and properties then do the calculations.

So from our perspective, a quantum field is made up of points throughtout space that depending on what we want to study we give the appropriate values and properties too.

Its hard, because i am trying to visualize it. What i think is that field theory is just a mathematical tool to predict quantum behaviour.

Field theory would be used to calculate what is going on. It is a mathematical tool.

Cool videos :) I have been reading about physics on and off for about 8 years. I have always wanted to know how and why the world works the way it does. I was buzzing last night because i learnt some deep stuff that has taken me ages to figure out ! It has taken me years to realize what a particle is..
