I actually thought Frankie Boyle was pretty smart one time when I caught "Mock The Week" on one of the TV screens they had in a call-centre I was working on. He made me laugh even just via the medium of subtitles.

But I've since come to the opinion that he's mainly just an abusive tosser.

Doug Stanhope does "outrageously offensive" infinitely better, mainly because most of what he says is if not gospel truth, then stuff that other people have at least considered but then decided, "Nah, I can't say that, that's fucking wrong." But at least he does it very intelligently and tactfully. I've never seen anybody else who can get successful stand-up material out of abortion, DMT and defending internet paedophiles.

As opposed to Frankie Boyle who seems to have degenerated into, "Your kid's disabled. HAHAHA. Everybody point and laugh."

It may be a fine line, but I consider Stanhope to be pretty much a younger, alky Carlin, and thus one of my heroes.

boyle and stanhope are awesome, and stanhope is way more offensive than boyle (you can add hicks and carlin to that as well). good comedians are offensive and challenging
