Saw last night, very bleak and awash with desperation, but says a lot about humanity and life in general. Definitely gets you thinking despite a quite linear plot. Definitely worth going to see if you like apocalyptic fiction

Not read the book but reviews say it is definitely as good. As far as desolate landscapes go, maybe not as good as say I Am Legend, but mostly because it's obviously set in the country and not in the city, so seems like there is just no one around rather than everyone is dead.
I love things like that as well, really want to go to Chernobyl / Prypiat one day 8)

book is just incredible, the way he writes really is something to behold. started watching a little bit of the movie pon the internet the other night to see if they'd fucked it up - wasn't looking too shabby, although charlize theron seemed more than a little overused

its pretty dark, true to the book and looks great.
who is that lead actor? don't like him tbh.

but there seems to be 10 billion tonnes of mega heavy symbolism and sad looks in every single shot which kind of dulls the whole film. it needs a softer touch

gone overboard on the emo IMHO.
