yes, it's called experience. Tends to help when running for office. Would you prefer it if she was an ex Maccy Ds manager or something?

yes, it's called being represented by people who all do the same thing, hang out with the same people, live the same lives and have fuck all in common with most of the people they are supposed to represent.
i would prefer to see some maccy d's manager on the list actually. or anyone from a different background than career politicians. why would that be a problem? at least they know how to work hard and something of the pressures of doing a shitty job. i guess the £10k deposit is a bit off-putting though.
seriously? That's like asking your dear old maiden aunt to become a GP. She might be good at patching up a scraped knee, but, yeah... whatever.
Moving along...
The rise of the career politician is half of what's wrong with modern politics, at least in this country, in my opinion.
What percentage of the government basically went to Oxford to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics or the nearest equivalent, then went straight from uni into some intern or researcher post for some politician and have consequently never even been in farting distance of a "real job"? Too many.
(As an interesting aside, most of the Chinese politburo or whatever they call themselves these days, have engineering backgrounds, as opposed to our politicians who are traditionally all lawyers. I'd imagine that creates a radically different mindset/culture.)
