Newham Classic 10K 2012
Dear Runners,
Thank you for your taking part in the Newham Classic 10K Run 2012 held yesterday (15th April 2012). We hope you enjoyed the run.
Post event we received many congratulatory messages, suggestions and comments about the day’s proceedings.
However for the first time regrettably we also received some important feedback that the course may have been short.
The Newham Classic 10K run route is at all times measured by a UKA Grade I route measurer who again measured the route on this race accurately and is blameless and followed with a valid certificate.
Following your feedback we promptly initiated the process to carry out the checks on the route. We spoke to number of runners, volunteers, police and marshals about the subject. Unfortunately we found out that the distance covered by
the runners was 9.60km. This occurred due to the misplacement of the turnaround point cones on the greenway part of the route just after the 6km mark.
We sincerely apologies to all the runners for this unfortunate problem as we recognise all the hard work and training in preparing for such an event.
Officials results will be amended with an additional column of adjusted net time based on the pace timing of each runner for the additional distance. Amended results will be uploaded by morning of 17th April 2012 on
www.newhamclassic10k.comWith this in mind all of the finish ranking will remain unchanged and winner’s cash award will be given as per ranking order.
Each year we always ensure that the best quality and accurate measures is taken to ensure that the Newham Classic 10K is of a professional and high standard for our runners and spectators and we shall continue to do so in the future.
Best regards
Race Director
