A lot of peeps I know do heaps of stuff in their community or for charity and really try and put a lot back into society.

Would you say you're that sort of person, and if so, what do you do?

unless im getting paid im not doing shit - unless its walking dogs at shelter or givging money to RSCPA.

government shirking community responsibilities onto a overtaxed, overcontroleld and undersupported community makes me fucking sick. i would give my time and moeny and effort to build a bomb and destroy some things but digging holes with poor people to plant trees on roadsides for a govermnent marketing plan isnt my idea of time well spent imo

BUT

good on everyone who cbf helping people in need.

I have chopped back my old neighbours garden a couple of times, although to be fair it provides much more light in the garden.

Years ago there was a smelly old man in the flat opposite (disrespectful to refer to him as smelly old man, but the stink was so bad that the police once checked it out cus someone thought he'd died), anyway, I though "I must help him" but never got round to it and the one time he asked me for help I was in a real fucking rush and he blurted it out as the lift doors were closing, too late for me to open them again, so i jogged on. What a cunt (him, not me).

Does working in a well paid job as a Tenancy Support Worker count as doing stuff for other people?

I was thinking about offering up some of my free time to give free English classes to bottom-of-the-economical-scale kids round where I live.

When I lived in England I gave two free English classes to a nineteen year old Somalian refugee mother. She was a shit student though and she didn't do homework or turn up to the third class.

i work for a charity. and i'd like to think i go the 'extra mile' to help the chiiiiiildren and dem yoot to get the most they can out of it.

i think, volunteering wise, people need to/should understand that volunteering can be on their terms, not just the terms of whomever they volunteer for. ie, if you like accounting (freak) you can volunteer those services, it ain't all about digging ditches or stuff you don't want to do.

I trimmed my old neighbours ladygarden a couple o' times.

I would really like to do some cool stuff for the world. I can barely keep up with work at the moment though. I used to have so much time to manufacture and experiment with materials. Now my life is just: get up early go to work, stay late, eat, go to bed. Got to sort this shit out.

Hey wait a minute I totally fukcing forgot.

The other week I had just moved into my house next to a pub. I wondered home having drunk with my mate and decided on a lonesome pint in the new pub to introduce myself. Came out for a ciggie about midnight on a friday and this 35-40 ish woman came wobbling across the road and slumped on the seats out side the pub next to me. She closed her eyes and heaped over still sitting but not looking very homeward bound her bag all on display and that. I wondered over and said " I hope you're not falling asleep there? " I live at the top of commercial road, so not a cool palce for innebriated ladies with purses and shit to lose. She said : 'no no I'm fine' so I went back inside not wanting to harrass this woman. But popped back out about 5 minutes later to check and she was sparko. With her bag over her shoulder. So this time I'm like " hey, you're definitely falling asleep, yu need to go home'. It took me ages to get her to talk to me. I think she had been at a work do. She couldn't talk she was so drunk. She had a big ol cut on her knee and I eventually managed to find out she lived in west wickham. So I was like, shit there's no way you're getting a tube and a train, you can't fucking speak. I would have to carry her and there is no guarantee we would get to whereever it is that takes you to west wickham. So I'm like "you have money right? Right I'll hail you a cab." We must have tried about 6 cabs and they all either looked at her and said no, or said west wickham was too far. I got her talking in the end and she wanted to stay out drinking and I was like 'nooooooooooooooo way' .
After about half an hour one cabbie was like "west wickham' yeah I'm going that way hop in"

Yay, drunk lady got home and didn't get stolen in Whitechappy. Wooo. I had a warm feeling after that.

 Jim

Errrrrrrr no for voulynteering in the official sense, but I donate blood 4 times a year, I'm on the Anthony Nolan Bone marrow (mmm tasty) donor register, Organ donor (if it still works help yerself I won't be needing it) - chop firewood for the elderly of the village, walk my neighbour's dog as she (the neighbour not the dog) has had a stroke.

My local pub in a sort of community hub and you'll always do a favour for a mate as they will for you, right now I'm coding a website for some friends down there and expect a few pints and get to bang away at a few clay pigeons for my time.
