Here we are, fucking camping out in the middle of town every night, holding assemblies under the baking sun so we can try and work out ways to persuade politicians they should represent people and not banks, waiting for the rest of Europe to join in so we can all take peaceful direct action against the corporatocracy, and what does the rest of Europe do?

People here (I mean normal people, not just crusties and Socialist Worker types) are beginning to take a stand instead of just sitting round complaining, but everyone sees it as a global problem/solution, not just a protest about Spanish unemployment. And the powers that be aren't going to take any notice if it only happens in Madrid.

This isn't about socialism or any other political ideology. You won't see any flags of any political persuasion or movement at the Puerta del Sol, because it's about moving forward.

I don't really like ranting and preaching about politics, but over the last few days in Madrid it really feels like something new is being born. Whether it develops and has any effect depends on whether we stand alone or not.

unfortunately the establishment kill people for protesting in this country

Dont forget making us ask permission to protest. And making conditions horrendous when we do (eg kettling). Rumor has it that the establishment have been known to excite violence so a finger of blame can be pointed later after the beat downs (and hopefully discourage more commoners from revolting).

But don't worry, our tax pounds are hard at work fighting dictators in other countries who don't allow protests. Meanwhile at home we have to cut back on all forms of social care while raising taxes.
