Concentrating on just Wimbledon, I much preferred watching the women's game when the likes of Sampras, Krajicek & Stich were boring me into submission. Thankfully serve and volley has died out.

If anyone could point out some women's matches that come even remotely close to matches such as Nadal/Joker at this years Aussie open, Murray/Joker in the semis, Fed/Nadal in their last wimbledon meeting etc in terms of intensity, athleticism and skill then i'd love to see them.

Well, i don't know about you, but i consider Federer a slow starter. More often then not he has the most trouble in the first set. Murray was stronger the first set, but by a small margin, Federer was stronger the second set, by an equally small margin. When the roof closed, the difference was noticably greater.

In your opinion, what real world effect did the roof closing have that changed the game?

Well for one, the humidity would change quite a bit when the roof goes on, would you agree that has a real world effect?

Potentially yes, there could be a slight change in the humidity.

How did the humidity change help Federer though?

Federer's game is all about position and Murray is more of a runner, with higher humidity the surface would be more slippery, which affects Murray's game more negatively (i'd like to say i came up with this myself, but this is a quote from one of the BBC commentators).

Federer had just broken Murray at 6-5 to win the second set (when Murray was 30-0 and probably already in a tie-break in his head), Murray then had a 45 minute break to dwell on that fact. He came out and his 'first serve in' went from 72% (2nd set) to 49%. You simply can't beat Federer if you're only getting less than half your first serves in, and I fail to see how the roof had anything to do with that.

Poor serving gave Federer an early break and ultimately the set (6-3). Cue sulking and petulance from Murray and roof or no roof he was fucked.

BTW I do agree the roof going on gave any advantage to be had to Federer, I just don't think it would have made any difference to the final result had it stayed open.

Then we end up not disagreeing by that much it seems, i think Federer would've won it anyway as well.
Although he's made great strides since he started working with Lendl, Murray still needs to work on the mental aspect of his game, not a lot wrong with the physical part (imho).

That's better. I like it when you put some effort in

You don't think Murray's chances are better after winning at the Olympics? He has now proven to himself that he can win big, so what's to say he wont win this one either? Murray is still on a high i think.
Having said that, you always know it takes something else to beat Djokovic. Federer may be ranked number 1, in my book Djokovic is the best player in the world at the moment.

No, that wasn't a grand slam best of 5 set format tournament.

The final was best of 5.... I personally do count the olympics as a major, but i understand not many do.
A tenner eh :P. I think Djoko is favorite, but i've got a good feeling about Murray's chances.
